Run heats, score waves, and track circuit seasons
Competitions & Circuits
Surflink supports both one-off competitions (heats and scoring) and season-long circuits (rankings across events).
Competitions and Circuits live in the Compete sidebar group, which is part of the
competitionsfeature module. If you don't see them, an org admin can enable the module -- see Organizations & Modules.
Run a competition
Create the competition
- Open Competitions (
/competitions) and click New Competition. - Enter the Competition Name, Date, Format (Single Elimination / Double Elimination / Round Robin / Expression Session), Location, and Notes.
- Save -- it's created with status upcoming.
Add and run heats
- Open the competition and click Add Heat.
- Set the Round, Heat #, and Duration (default 20 minutes).
- Add surfers with + Add Surfer, picking an athlete and a jersey color (Red / Blue / Yellow / White / Black / Green). You need at least 2 surfers.
- On the heat card, click Start to begin (this also marks the competition in-progress).
- For each surfer, enter a wave score (0-10, step 0.1) and record it. Recorded waves appear as chips with the top two highlighted and a running Total.
- Click End to complete the heat. Surflink computes each surfer's best-two-wave total, sorts them, and writes finishing places.
Pending heats can be deleted with the trash icon.
Circuits (season tracking)
Open Circuits (/circuits).
- Click Add Circuit.
- Choose the Organization (WSL / BSA / ISA / Custom), and for WSL pick the Tour; then set Name, Season Year, Gender, Division, and Region.
- For WSL tours, a point scale is seeded automatically.
- Use Sync WSL Athletes to pull athletes into the circuit.
Open a circuit to see rankings and events tabs and to Import WSL results (scrape then import). Per-athlete circuit enrollment is also offered in the Add Athlete wizard for contest athletes (see Managing Athletes).
